Committed to excellence in tourism management and marketing
The stage is set for a series of talks entitled ON-LINE MARKETING: NEW TRENDS FOR THE TOURISM INDUSTRY, which are to be held during the morning of this coming October 16 at the Centro Insular de Turismo, located within the Jumbo Shopping Centre on the Playa del Inglés. The talks, which are geared towards businessmen and directors from the tourism industry, particularly those from marketing departments, are the brainchild of the Tourism Board of Gran Canarias (Patronato de Turismo de Gran Canaria) and are being organised by Global Red, an interactive agency that specialises in on-line solutions and marketing, and by VMAR turismo, a tourism marketing firm from the Canary Islands.
Everyone is fully aware that new technologies have brought about a change in the browsing and purchasing habits of tourists, and that the key to success for tourist establishments lies in their ability to tap into this flourishing on-line business.
With this in mind, we just need to learn how to apply these new technologies to our business and put them into practice. The event boasts the participation of a number of leading figures from the on-line marketing world. These specialists will share their practical and hands-on experiences of the business based on real case studies, while teaching us how to optimise sales through virtual channels and how to manage and harness social networks.
After the opening speech by the Manager of the Tourism Board, Ms Cristina del RÃo Fresen, Mr Joan Bota, e-Business Sales Manager for Hotetur & Blue Bay Resort will give the first talk at 10:15, in which he will analyse the current situation within the tourism industry and inform participants of the latest trends in on-line marketing and distributor relations.
Following on from this, at roughly 11:00, Mr Jules Bazley, Sales Manager for the Affili Red network platform, will discuss the benefits to be reaped from hotel chain positioning through affiliations, while sharing with us cutting-edge business approaches and analysing the experiences of various companies that operate within the network, from the standpoint of both advertiser and network affiliate.
After a coffee break and to wrap up the event, Mr Jaume Pons, Marketing and Project Manager for ITH, will underscore the importance and potential of the Travel 2.0 concept through a highly interactive talk with event participants. Travel 2.0 allows customers to share their opinions and publish their own content on the tourist establishments and destinations available on the network, thereby marking the arrival of a new marketing channel, which we must first learn if we wish to master.
Entry is free-of-charge. Seating is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Scheduled timetable: 09:30 - 14:00.
